Boston suspects' mom was on terrorism watch list herself, says senator
The mother of Boston bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was herself on a terrorism watch list, and may have important information about the attack, according to a U.S. senator briefed on the investigation.
James Risch (R-Idaho) indicated that Zubeidat Tsarnaeva’s name was put on the government’s “Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment,” along with son Tamerlan, after the Russian government suspected them of militancy in 2011. In fairness, the list has a lot of names — more than 745,000 — so your mother could be on it and it wouldn’t make her a bona fide terrorist. But don’t be surprised if Zubeidat gets called in for questioning soon. [Source]
