Flood Waters Close in on Nuclear Power Plant in Nebraska

FORT CALHOUN, Neb. (CNN) -- Flood waters are close to reaching a nuclear power plant in Nebraska.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) chairman visited the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station earlier this week.

Officials were concerned about the deep water around the facility that was caused by the historic flooding of the Missouri River.

The NRC says the main areas of the plant are not in danger of flooding. Managers at the plant have brought extra fuel inside the facility in case the site loses power.
